The world
Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental,
and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, it further emphasises that health is a dynamic condition resulting from a body's constant adjustment and
adaptation in response to stresses and changes in the environment for
maintaining an inner equilibrium called homeostasis. This definition not only tries to create an understanding of the word health but furthers the aspect and eexplains it to its entirety and it is important to note that both body and mind are included. Often people fail to realise the importance of the mental aspect to ones health and as such neglect psychological well being of a human being which overtime can manifest to the physical aspect of the body in a more severe state than could have been attended to mentally and it is therefore important to promote mental health and psychological therapy to ensure a well rounded healthy person in this modern world. Former United States president, Barack Obama through the establishment of affordable health care took steps in trying to offer as well as promote health care importance in the United States during his time in the white House.
Although not entirely received well the idea proved effective and it encouraged citizens of America to actually get to do check ups at often intervals and it is unfortunate that such initiatives will be done for as a result of the newly passed health care bill by the Republicans. I may not be a politician and at times fail the complete picture with regards to politics but using the health sector to push different opposing policies only takes a step back from progressive initiatives to better the lives of the masses and it is a shame.
