The Jazz evening at Riff's Bar & Grill

The Invitation
If the jazz feel is your scene, then the masterfully designed jazz bar and grill at the Garden Court Hotel in the Sandton mile is your ultimate go to place. It is only fitting that the Riff’s Bar and Grill had to put together a jazz evening get together to remind people where the “Jazz” lives in Johannesburg. Getting to the venue, the first thing that comes to mind is when the live band is going to show up and it goes without saying that the complimenting artefacts and set up in the bar cosy up the whole idea of a proper Jazz evening, slow soft trumpets in the background reminded the guests that came early of what a good decision they made, missing the whole indulging experience would have been a let-down. The food and the lighting enough to bring out the cosy, intimate feel of the event and the few media influencers invited to witness the hugely talented Billy Manama stroke his guitar as he narrated the history of Jazz and how we came to influence its smooth transition that impacted those that had a chance to experience it. The power of learning that was embedded in the genre which provided culture, elegance and what would go on to influence the birth of other genres such as hip hop was good entertainment in our country’s yesteryears. The intimate guitar solo provided the sophistication that lives in the genre of genre and what must definitely be what the Riff’s bar and grill brings to the table and the interview with one of the organisers, expressed the intend to offer a one of a kind experience that showcases apart of South African culture as well as showcase the Riff’s Bar and Grill as well as the Garden Court Hotel at large. The selected media representatives expected at the event all managed to make it for the event and the excitement and how captivated everyone was during the musical narration was a clear sign of appreciation. After the presentation was done guests were asked to stay and try few of the Riff’s dishes on their menu as a chance to get the full package as to what the place has to offer, it was a great touch to have a meet and greet with the performer as well have the various media representatives network and exchange ideas. All in all, it was an all-round small and intimate spectacle!
